Chocolate Peanut Butter Dessert Hummus – Gluten Free & Vegan

Savory hummus has been one of my favorite snacks for a long time. It’s rich and creamy and goes great with so many different things. You can dip all kinds of yummy food in it, serve it with falafel, or even have it on pizza to make a creamy sauce.
So imagine how excited I was to find out that dessert hummus exists! Sure hummus is great savory, but a sweet hummus dip could be used for so many different delicious purposes.
I would have been more skeptical of the idea of dessert hummus if I hadn’t already had things like avocado pudding and black bean brownies.
Both of those recipes were delicious so I knew dessert hummus was probably just as good. After doing some research, I had a pretty good idea of how to make dessert hummus since there isn’t really a lot to it, but I wanted to add a few things that I thought would make it even better. The main difference being peanut butter.
I’ve said it before, but I will say it again, chocolate and peanut butter are a perfect match in my mind. I also thought that the peanut butter might give the dessert hummus an even creamier consistency and I was right!
It really added a great flavor and made the texture perfect. I also really love the fact that all you have to do to make this is just throw everything in a food processor and blend it up. I’m not sure it gets much easier than that.
Some of my favorite things to dip in the dessert hummus are fruit (apples and strawberries are my favorites), gluten free pretzels, and the occasional marshmallow.
There really are so many things that would taste amazing with this dessert hummus. Do you all have any dessert recipes that call for ingredients that you wouldn’t expect to be in a dessert?

Chocolate Peanut Butter Dessert Hummus – Gluten free & Vegan

- 1 can garbanzo beans, drained and rinsed
- 1/4 cup dairy free milk of choice
- 1/4 cup peanut butter
- 1/3 cup cocoa powder
- 6 tbsp maple syrup
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup vegan chocolate chips
- 1/4 tsp salt
- Add all the ingredients, except the chocolate chips, to a food processor or blender.
- Process until smooth.
- Stir in chocolate chips.
- Store in a sealed container in the refrigerator.
- Serving Size: 8
